Wood engraving
Differing from wood routing, laser engraving on wood can produce a contrasting mark as well as an engraved effect. If the desired result is a high contrast, hard, light colored woods work the best.
The quality of the wood is important when processing with the laser. Poor quality wood will result in less than satisfactory engraving. An alternative is MDF (medium-density fiberboard). This material can be both engraved and even cut with smooth edges, for excellent final results.
